Christmas 2011

We had so much fun during the holidays this year! Christmas day we were at my family's house up in Sandy. We had so many activities planned for the weekend that it was almost exhausting, but so much fun! One of my favorite Christmas traditions that we have been doing ever since I can remember is making about 100 lunches and delivering them to the homeless in downtown SLC. It is a great way to remember the true meaning of Christmas by serving others. Somehow I forgot my camera and didn't get any pictures of us making the lunches though. Sad! We also went downtown to see the lights at Temple Square which was freezing, but fun. Boston got to ride the "choo-choo" (Trax) which he thought was fun for the first 10 minutes, then wanted to run around (which is difficult to do on a moving train). I loved just being able to hang out and play games with my family, they are always so funny. My parents got Boston a red wagon and let him open it a few days early, so everyone was busy taking him on rides the whole weekend, he loves that thing! On Christmas morning we opened presents, Boston was excited to open his first two presents and then he was too busy playing with them that he wouldn't open any others! It was fun to watch how happy he was the whole time. I love that boy. We celebrated Christmas with Paul's family the next weekend (New Years). Boston had so much fun playing with all of his cousins, and he would take 3-4 hours naps each day because he was so tired from running around so much. We all got so spoiled and are lucky to both have such great families!

In case you didn't know, my husband Paul is a huge 49ers fan! I've been wanting to get him tickets to a game ever since we have been married, but the tickets are always so much, and the timing never works out. Well this year since the team is doing so good I decided to surprise him and send him to Phoenix to watch them play the Cardinals. The game was just a few weeks before Christmas so I thought it would be perfect. I got him two tickets and told him to find a friend to go with (I thought he would have more fun with a guy instead of me haha). He went down with his friend Kelly and took lots of pictures. Even though they barely lost, he had so much fun, and I had fun listening to him tell me all about it =)

Today I am thankful for day light savings time because we actually got ready for church on time, so I had to snap a picture of Bos looking very sharp in his suit =) You might not be able to tell by his facial expression, but he is saying "cheeeese" for the camera. And of course he wouldn't let us forget the gloves!

Halloween was so fun for us this year! Boston has been pretending to be a tiger lately so we decided to go with it and dress him up as one. He was so dang cute. He kept "rarrring" when the neighbors would come to the door and was not shy at all when they offered candy. He did say thank you to most houses, so we'll consider it a success. I love this boy so much, he cracks me up everyday. Here are some cute pictures of him trick-or-treating with his daddy (who is equally cute I might add).

Later that night we had a party with some of our couple friends. We had my Mom's famous chili (which is beyond delicious) and yummy bread sticks. It was way fun and I wish I would have taken some pictures dang it....oh well maybe next year!

Stahlei Family Farm

Sorry, long time no blog, I left my camera in Salt Lake this summer and haven't been up to get it since then. No pictures=No blog. So sad... Then I remembered we have an old half broken camera that still works. Duh!

Anyways, we have had a fun and busy couple of months! Boston is getting so big, I can't believe it. He is so funny right now. I love it! I love the days I get to stay home and play with him all day. He makes me laugh. I love that I can talk to him and he understands what I am saying and can sometimes answer me back. He is running everywhere and climbing on EVERYTHING! It's a miracle he hasn't broken a bone yet. I can't keep up with him, but its so funny to watch. Good, cheap entertainment =)

Last weekend we went down to St. George to the Stahlei Family Farm. We went there last year when Boston was little, and it was fun, but this year was so much more fun because he was able to run around and pet the animals. He loved it! We went on hay rides and looked at pumpkins, and sat on tractors (by far his favorite part). Every time he saw someone driving a tractor he would point and yell PAPA! He does love his tractor driving papa =)

4th of July Weekend

We had soooo much fun this fourth of July weekend up in Scipio and Fillmore. We went up to the Madsen cabin on Saturday morning and had so much fun playing with all of the cousins in the dirt. Paul took Boston on about 300 four-wheeler rides....he was OBSESSED! It was so fun to hang out and relax with everyone up there. Monday morning we went to the parade in Fillmore which was fun, and then the park afterwards. That night we came back to Fillmore for their awesome fireworks show. I was worried about how Boston would do because he's not a huge fan of loud noises, but he really liked them. He just sat on our laps and let us cover his ears and kept saying "whooooa" and clapping for them. It was so funny! Here are some fun pictures of our weekend =)

Boston's 1st Birthday!

Boston turned ONE about a month ago (I know, it took me way too long to post these pictures, bad mom). It was so fun! Lots of our family drove many hours to come to the party and I am so grateful they did. It wouldn't have been the same without everyone there, so thank you family!

When I was growing up my dad would always make our birthday cakes, and they were always the best. I wanted Paul to carry on that tradition so I asked him if he would make Boston's cake (he is more creative than I am anyways). I think he was a little nervous about it, but luckily my dad called and told him he had a great idea for it. Paul and my dad made the cake while me, my mom and Sami cleaned and decorated. Boston has been really into tractors and trucks lately so I decided to go with a tractor theme and it turned out really cute. He got lots and lots of presents and had so much fun playing with everyone and getting so much attention.

Mexican Riviera Cruise

After a year of looking forward to it, we finally went on our cruise to Mexico and it was SO FUN!! We went with the funniest people in the whole world and I don't think I stopped laughing the whole trip. I am so glad to have such fun couple friends, and I can't wait to go on another trip with them!

So Paul is officially done with school! Like DONE DONE....forever!! YAHOO!! I just wanted to tell him how proud I am of him. He has worked SO hard this last year, taking five classes each semester, working, and watching Boston. He is the best Dad ever, and always takes time to play with Boston, even though I know he has so much to do. I love him so much and am grateful for everything he does for our family. Love you babe!

Hello everyone! We have had an exciting and fun month. First of all, I passed my nursing boards!! YAY! Now I am officially an RN. I think my favorite part about it is being done with school. Now I can just come home from work and play with Boston and not worry about homework or anything. It's awesome. I am still working at the Pediatrician's office that I have been at for almost two years, but now I am a Nurse there! I am working three days a week which is great because the other four I get to hang out with Boston and sometimes Paul if I'm lucky. Paul has evening classes and usually works until 11pm at the school. I feel like I hardly ever get to spend time with Paul, which stinks, but he will be done with school in May and that is super exciting!

Boston is BUSY BUSY BUSY. It's kind of exhausting. I can't wait until it's warmer so I can take him outside to play, but until then my house is a disaster zone because he gets into anything and everything he can reach. He is so funny right now. He can crawl so fast it's almost scary. I'll put him down somewhere and then two seconds later I'll almost step on him because he has crawled clear across the room following me. Boston can now stand on his own for a few seconds. He will be standing at the couch and go to grab something and let go of the couch and just stand there until he realizes he's not holding onto anything. I think he will be walking very soon, which is exciting but also scary! He is turning into quite the daddy's boy, which I love and hate. I love to see how much fun him and Paul have together, but I hate how 90% of the time he wants his dad to hold him. It's just not fair! Every night Paul and I lay in bed telling each other all the funny things Boston did that day. I love it! He is such a good boy. Everyday we ask ourselves how we got blessed with such a perfect little boy.

Also, it was my Mom's 50th Birthday last weekend and my Dad is so cute and threw her a surprise party. He did such an awesome job at planning it and it was so fun! I love surprise parties!

Long time no blog. So much has happened in the last month I don't even know where to begin. First of all, I am officially GRADUATED from Nursing School! Yahoo! It's been a very long and tiring journey, and I'm glad to be done...well almost. I still have to take my boards on Jan. 20th, so wish me luck! We had a very good Christmas in Scipio and Salt Lake. Boston got very spoiled, and it was so fun to see him play with all of his new toys. Boston has turned into quite the wild man lately. Some of his many talents include:

*crawling for real now, he only does his belly scoots when he's in a hurry to get somewhere
*standing up using whatever he can -the couch, the entertainment center, the washer, my leg...everything!
*trying to walk to different places- he forgets he still needs to hold onto something
*talking up a storm-Paul and I are in a secret competition to see if he says "mama" or "dada" first

He is always trying to go somewhere, and hardly ever wants to be held. He's crazy. We are constantly laughing at things he does, it is so fun to watch him learn how to get around and discover new things. We love him so much!

I still working at a pediatrician's office and am loving it, I'm so grateful that I was able to stay there and have a job as a Nurse. It's the best! Paul is back to school on Monday for his last semester in the MBA program. I am so proud of him and we both can't wait for him to be done. He has been so great to stay home and watch Boston while I go to work. Even though he loves to hang out with Boston, I know its hard for him to stay home all day. He wants to be out working, but I am grateful for him and his ability to stay home with our baby. He is the best. Love you babe!

We had so much fun this weekend up in Salt Lake! Saturday morning we had a girls brunch with my cousins over at my aunt's house which was so so fun. I really miss hanging out and having sleepovers all the time with them so it was good to see them. I'm sad I didn't get any pictures though, especially since one of my cousins is prego and has the cutest little belly! She is having a boy in Feb and we are so excited for her! After brunch we did some shopping, which was nice, since it feels like I never get to do that anymore. Later Saturday night we had my Mom's famous chili which is to die for!!! It seriously is the best. Then we dressed Boston up in his monkey costume and it was so dang cute on him! We only went trick-or-treating to one house because Boston hadn't really gotten a good nap all day so he wasn't too happy, but it was still really fun! Sunday after church we took Boston to a local pumpkin patch where we have been getting pumpkins since I was a baby. It was so fun to take him there, he loved it. We got some really cute pictures because he was being so smiley! Oh my heck I just LOVE him!

School, work, and some more school...

Holy cow where has the time gone!? I can't believe our little man is already 4 months old! SO much ahs happened the past few months, since school has started for us we have been CRAZY BUSY! Paul has class in the evenings, usually from 5-8:30pm, and I either have work, class or clinicals from 6pm-6am at the hospital. Needless to say, Paul has become Mr. Mom and he is amazing at it! At first I was a little nervous to be leaving Paul home with Boston all day, but he is so good at doing everything that now I don't even think twice about it. Paul is the best dad ever and I am so grateful for him helping me out so much. We also have GREAT family and friends that have been so so nice to watch Boston when our schedules overlap or when we go on a date (which is rare). Going to school full time and working with a kid is quite the challenge, but we wouldn't trade it for the world. We love our little B so much!
We have been able to squeeze a few fun things into our schedule like going up to Paul's cabin with my parents, and going to a beach house in California with my family before school started. The beach house was AMAZING!! We had so much fun there, we didn't want to leave. The best part was that the house we stayed in was the house of a former Red Sox player...how cool is that?! Yeah, me and Boston were in heaven =) haha.
Boston has been getting so big (well to us he is, even though he is kinda small for his age!). he is developing so fast and it is fun to see him learn how to do things. Some fun new things about him are:

He can roll over! Back to belly and belly to back! He loves to be on his tummy (for about 10 minutes) and he is getting so good at holding his head up when he's on his belly.
He loves to put things in his mouth. Anything and everything he can reach goes right into his mouth, even the front of his shirt, which usually is soaking wet!
He loves to stick his tongue out. Its so stinking cute.
he has just discovered that he can grab his feet, so he likes grab them and roll side to side. I'm just waiting until he finds out that he can put them in his mouth too...YUM!!
He is the most smiley baby in the world. He smiles all the time! Even when he is crying you can smile at him and he will smile right back (it's the cutest thing when he has tears running down his face with a big grin!)
He LAUGHS all the time and he loves to be tickled. Ok, I don't know if he loves it, but we love to tickle him to hear that cute giggle! And lately he has been waking up laughing instead of crying. It is hilarious to hear him laughing in the monitor at who knows what. I LOVE it!
He babbles all the time. He just talks and talks and talks.
He likes to be included in whatever we are doing. He loves to sit in his bumbo and watch us eat or clean up the kitchen, or fold the laundry.
He loves to spit! He sticks out his tongue and spits and blows bubbles all the time.
He likes to chew on his hands, and sometimes gets them so far in there that he gags himself. Its really not funny...but it kind of is.

We are having so much fun watching him grow and develop new skills. He is the best baby in the world and we love him so much! Here are a few pictures of what we have been up to, and a slide show of the pictures from California!

We had a super fun weekend celebrating the 4th of July last weekend. Friday night we went to Gunnison for the Neil Diamond concert and fireworks show which was way fun, besides the fact that there were a million mosquitoes everywhere! Saturday we went to Meadow to hang out with our good friends Channing and Brittany Stott and their kids. Boston went on his first ranger four-wheeler ride up Kanosh canyon (don't worry, he was safely buckled in his car seat), which he slept all the way through. Then we had a BBQ over at their house with a bunch of our friends, and it was so much fun! Later that night we went to Fillmore to watch their fireworks show, which was freakin amazing! Longest fireworks show ever! I LOVE LOVE LOVE fireworks!
Sunday was a very special day for us. We blessed Boston in Scipio and it was so nice to have all our family and close friends there to share such a special moment with us. Paul did such an amazing job, and I'm grateful that he was worthy to give our son such a wonderful blessing. I am so lucky to have these two great boys in my life. I love them both so much!!This red sox jersey is from my "build-a-bear" and it fits haha! How funny is that?! I LOVE it! =)

A month old!

Wow I can't believe little B is already a month old! Time flies when your a Mom! The past few weeks we've been busy visiting family in Scipio and Sandy and introducing the little man to everyone. Thankfully he does good in the car for the rides back and forth to see the family. He is such a handsome boy, and is so spoiled because of it. He has everyone wrapped around his little finger, including his mom and dad. A couple weeks ago we got our first family pictures taken by my friend from high school (Courtney Winnie) and she did such a great job! I love every single one of them! So so cute.
Just last week Boston started smiling at us, like seriously smiling. He mostly smiles at Paul (which I'm only slightly jealous of), but it just melts my heart. I wish I had some good pics of him smiling, but they're all crappy ones on my phone. I'll get one and put it up soon, you guys will die!
He has been such a good little baby, and we have so much fun with him. He is starting to stay awake for a couple of hours at a time which is fun, so we play with toys and read books. His favorite book so far is "Are you my Mother?", he smiled the whole time I read it to him. I loved it because that was my favorite book when I was little. We still don't know who he looks like, people have said both me and Paul. I guess he just looks like himself, which is fine with me because he is adorable!! I kind of like this little man, can you tell?? Hahaha

So last night little B had his first real bath! Yay! He loved it, and it was so dang cute to watch Paul bathe him. Boston loves getting his hair washed, and it was so funny to watch him just relax in the tub.
We love our little man, and we are having so much fun learning how to be parents and watching him grow. He is such a cute boy!

So my little bean finally came last Saturday! I went into labor at about 5:30 in the morning and was having contractions about every 3 to 4 minutes so at about 7am I woke Paul up and told him I needed to go to the hospital. He jumped right out of bed, looking a little bit confused, it was so funny. When we got to the hospital they checked me and I was dilated to a 2. They checked me again about 2 hours later and I was still only at a 2 so they told me to go home and try and relax for a few hours (yeah freakin right!) and then come back. So we went home at about 9am and lasted until noon and then begged Paul to take me back to the hospital. I was dilated to a 3 when I got back so they decided to keep me and then I got my epidural. Hooray for epidurals!! They are the best...seriously. No way could I have survived without one, because contractions are the worst thing ever. After that I took a nap, woke up and was dilated to a 5, fell back asleep and then was at an 8, watched TV for a minute and then was ready to push! I only pushed with like 6 contractions, and baby Boston was out! I wish I could have gotten a picture of my face when I saw him because I bet I looked absolutely shocked. Everyone, and I mean everyone (even my doctor), thought I was going to have a 6 pound baby, and out comes Boston weighing 8lbs 3 oz, he looked so chubby!! It was the best experience ever, and now I can't stop looking at him. I just want to eat his little cheeks off they are so chubby! Oh I love him so much! Paul is such a good daddy, I love to watch him change and dress and talk to Boston, it almost makes me cry its so cute. He is such a good baby, I don't know how we got so lucky!

Spring Break in Phoenix

Hello Blog! It's been awhile, I know. I'm finally going to blog about our spring break adventure down in Phoenix, even though it was almost a month ago! We went down to Arizona to watch some spring training baseball games and enjoy the AWESOME weather. We went with another couple in our ward and it was so fun! It was so nice to have a vacation from school and work, especially because it will be our last one before the little guy gets here in May. We went to like four baseball games, ate the best hot dogs (I LOVE hot dogs at baseball games), layed out by the pool, and relaxed. Oh it was the best. We also got to visit Jenny and Allen (cousins) and the kids who we don't get to see very often. They are always so fun to play with! All in all it was a great time and as you can tell, I would go back in a heartbeat.
This past weekend we went up to Salt Lake and Scipio to have some baby showers...they were SO FUN!! I got soooo many cute things and its making me so anxious for Boston to get here. Only 6 1/2 more weeks! Ah! I can't wait!

The Best Christmas Present!

We got an extra special Christmas present this year. We went to the doctor on the 23rd to find out what we are having, but instead of having him tell us we made him write it down on a card and seal it up so we could open it on Christmas morning. We told all of our family that our appointment wasn't until after Christmas (which was supposed to be true, but after some begging on my part I convinced our Dr to do it a little early). It was so hard to wait to open the card, and knowing myself I told Paul to hide the card so I wouldn't peek. I felt just like a little kid on Christmas Eve counting down the hours until I could go to sleep (seriously), and when I finally got in bed I couldn't sleep! I think I had about 6 different dreams about what that stinkin card was going to say! I woke up at 6am and just sat there waiting for Paul to wake up, finally at like 6:45 he stirred a little bit and I to took the opportunity to nudge him so he would get up. We opened that card together and I just about died!! I had wanted a boy sooooooo bad, but I totally thought it was going to be a girl. I was so prepared to see the words "girl" on the card that it seriously took me a few seconds to get it haha. We were having a BOY!!!! YAY!!! The card was so funny (see the pic below). I was so so so excited, it was the best Christmas present ever. When the rest of my family got up (not too much after us because I woke them all up) we let my sister open the card to tell the rest of the family what we are having. It was so fun so see their reaction. We did the same thing at Paul's house with his family a few days later. It was such a fun way to tell everyone and definitely a fun way for us to find out as well.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year, we look forward to 2010, it will be a fun one for us. Oh I forgot to mention that Paul graduated in December (Yay!) with his Communications degree, but will be back to school with me tomorrow to work towards getting his Masters of Business. I only have two more semesters left in the nursing program and will graduate in Dec 2010. I am so excited!! Enjoy some pics of our fun Christmas =) Oh and we have decided to name the little guy Boston Paul Monroe!

News!

OK so I know everyone on here probably already knows, but i just had to blog about it anyways because I finally have something totally awesome to say. I'M PREGNANT!! Yay! We are so so so excited (and a little bit nervous at the same time)! I've been baby hungry for a while, but now that its actually happening it's kinda freaky. Is that an appropriate word to use, freaky? I don't know, but it really does freak me out sometimes. The little bean is due May 20th and we should find out what it is around Christmas. I think that will be a good present don't you? We are both kinda hoping for a little boy, but I'm kinda thinking it will be a girl. My mom thinks it's a girl because I've been pretty sick so she said that "she's already being a little brat" haha. I thought that was pretty funny, and probably true. Plus the Chinese birth calendar said it was going to be a girl too. Oh well, either one would be nice really. We keep calling it a "he" just for fun though. Well that's the not-so-secret news. I'll try and keep you more updated on how things are going from now on, but no promises =)

New addition...

I forgot to mention we got a new addition to the family. Paul and his brother Devin went in together on a fishing boat that they have been wanting for awhile. I haven't been out on it yet, but it looks really fun! And all Carter wants to do is sit in it, he played in it in the garage for like 2 hours tonight. It was so funny.

I think I have the greatest parents in the world. I was sick with a kidney infection (so not fun) this weekend and so my parents came down to help take care of me and give Paul a break (he was starting to get bored). They came down and cleaned my house and Paul and my Dad went fishing while my Mom and I did some crafts. There really is nothing like a mother taking care of you when you are sick, they seem to know just what to do and say. Thanks again for coming down for a quick visit, it meant a lot! Love you guys!!

One Year Ago...

One year ago yesterday Paul and I got hitched! I can't believe its already been a YEAR! Its been the best year of my life, and I hope Paul can say the same. To celebrate the momentous occasion we went down to St. George and did a little shopping for school, went on a hike up Kanarraville Falls (which was where he proposed to me, and yes we totally reenacted it. It was super cute.) and then went out to dinner at this really fun Chinese restaurant. All in all it was an amazing day spent with my love. Oh and he sent me roses on Friday at work! They were so pretty! He is too cute. Thanks babe for an amazing year and many more to come. Love you so much!!

Wow, I can't believe its the end of June already, this summer has flown by! We have been so busy! I'll try and update you on what we have been doing since May, we have been so blessed recently I can't even believe it. So Paul made the Dean's list for like the third time (smarty pants!), and thanks to his good grades we were able to be accepted into scholarship housing, which will be free for us while we attend school for the next two years. It will be soooo nice not to have to pay rent, we will be able to save so much money! The same week we moved into our new place was also finals week, and I was so stressed about getting everything moved and cleaned up. Thankfully our family (especially my mom) and friends came over and helped clean and move. Thanks so much! That same week I took a few of applications around trying to find a job. I was so nervous and not very hopeful because it has been so hard for people to find jobs down here, but by some miracle I got an interview at a pediatric doctors office that I had been wanting to work at for forever. I got hired and started there about 4 days after I had taken my applications around, it was so amazing! I love my job so much, it's really the best, and I can't believe I actually got hired there. I love love love working with little kids (even though I have to give them shots and make them cry).
And two weekends ago Paul and I went down to California for a little vacation in the sun. We stopped at my brother and sister in-laws house in Vegas and it was so good to get to hang out with them for a little bit. In California we stayed with Paul's aunt and uncle and we had lots of fun playing games and hanging out with them. Paul's Aunt Sunnee also taught me how to make yummy toffee, it was really fun to get to know them better. We also went to an Angel's baseball game (I think I'm a converted fan for life) which was crazy fun because they hit 8 home runs and fireworks went off every time (I love love love fireworks). But the funnest part (for me at least) was going to the beach and renting bikes and riding along the beach for an hour. It was amazing!!
Well I'll try and get on and post more often about our summer adventures, but we don't have the Internet at our new place, so I'm making no promises!

Spring Break in the Carolinas

Ok I seriously think I'm the WORST blogger ever! It's been like 5 months since my last post and I'm just finally going to tell you about our Spring Break that happened like a month ago. So sorry I'm so bad at this. Anyway, about a month ago Paul and I had our spring break and decided to go back to Paul's mission in South Carolina. My Aunt and Uncle who I hardly ever get to see live in North Carolina so we thought it would be a great chance to go visit and stay with them while we were out there. It was so awesome to go visit some of the families that Paul taught while he was out there. They couldn't say enough great things about him and it just made me feel so lucky to have such a great husband! I could tell Paul really cared about the families he had the opportunity to teach the gospel to. It was amazing to go and visit with them. Also, since North Carolina is the NASCAR capital of the world, we decided to go and visit some of the shops and race tracks, and needless to say I came back a fan ha ha. We had so much fun!! A Very Merry Christmas Break

Now that Christmas break is over and we're back in Cedar, I finally have a few minutes to write and let you all know what we did over our busy break. We spent our three weeks of vacation going back and forth between Sandy and Scipio, and needless to say after being gone that long we were very ready to get back home. Because I think pictures tell the story better than I could, I'm going to post mostly pictures this time =)

Mom and Grandma making lunches for the homeless. We do this every year around Christmas time. Its so much fun making them with all the cousins and then going downtown and handing them out. Its one of my favorite family traditions!

The Draper Temple right up the street from my house. It is finally done and it is so beautiful!!

While driving around looking for deer with Paul's new binoculars I noticed the AMAZING sunset and made him stop so we could get a picture =)

And last but not least, my favorite part of the break! Scipio had their annual skeet shoot on New Years Day and I won the women's division and got a free frozen turkey as my trophy!! Haha it was so fun. Paul's good friend Tyson won the whole competition so here we are with our winnings!
